Rimac Nevera R

The Rimac Nevera R is the high-performance iteration of the groundbreaking electric hypercar by Rimac Automobili. Building on the formidable capabilities of the original Nevera, the Nevera R pushes the boundaries of electric vehicle technologies and speed.

The original Rimac Nevera was unveiled in 2021 as a flagship electric hypercar, designed and manufactured by the Croatian company Rimac Automobili. It set new standards in the industry with its combination of power, speed, and advanced technology. The absolutely bonkers Nevera R takes this innovation to the next level.

I’d better get this in now. If you’re wondering where you’ve heard the name Rimac before, Richard Hammond was driving their £1 million Concept One when he had that crash in The Grand Tour.

Right, now that’s out of the way…

The Nevera R is equipped with four electric motors - one for each wheel, which deliver a combined power output of up to 2078 horsepower. You know, just in case that the paltry 1,914 horsepower on offer on the standard Nevera isn’t enough for you!

But it’s not just the wild horsepower figures - this Croatian hooligan produces 1,741lb-ft of torque, which should be enough to, oh, I don’t know - overtake a Mazda MX5 on the M4, or er, go to the moon?

Just for some context, the animalistic Range Rover SVR has a torque figure of 516lb-ft.

As a result, the Nevera R will dispatch 0 to 60mph in a staggering 1.85 seconds, and go on to a top speed of 258mph.

To power this lunacy, Rimac have equipped this latest hypercar with a 120 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which they claim - despite its ferocious performance - has a range of 340 miles on a single charge.

Luckily, you’d be able to stop in a hurry, too - regenerative braking and carbon-ceramic brakes are fitted, so the stopping power should be enough to bring up your breakfast (that is if you’ve managed to keep it down of course!)

At this point, you’d think big players like Tesla would be worried - they’d have good reason to be.

The Nevera R incorporates semi-autonomous driving modes, which assist with motorway driving, parking and even manoeuvring in traffic, as well as collision avoidance thanks to a bank of cameras and sensors.

Although Elon could probably sleep a bit easier at night, seeing as the price point is a bit, er… different, shall we say? The Nevera R starts at a whopping £1.97 million.

As you’d probably expect, the Nevera R utilises a monocoque chassis, which is crafted out of carbon-fibre.

I think that the Rimac Nevera R represents a significant milestone in the evolution of hypercars, combining cutting-edge technology, stunning design, and unparalleled performance. As electric vehicles continue to evolve, the Nevera R stands as a testament to the exciting possibilities of a sustainable, electrified future in the world of high-performance cars.
