Overkill Awards ‘24!

Honouring the Bold, the Battered, and the Slightly Unhinged…

Seeing as it’s March 2025 and absolutely nothing is happening in the racing scene here in the UK, we decided to honour last year’s achievements with our own brand of awards - these are guaranteed to be worth at least three quid in years to come.

Sit back and enjoy!

The Iceman Award - Jack Knibbs, Escape Goat Racing

I mean, let’s be honest here. I wish I was this suave whilst piloting a Jimny around an off-road circuit - just look at him! Cucumbers, big bags of ice, the Welsh summer - nothing is as cool as Jack!

The Never Lift Campaign Ribbon - Paul Rowlands, PAR Homes Racing

I haven’t really got a lot to say here, apart from the fact that the brake pedal must be a rumour to Paul. Every time I’ve seen him compete, he drives like his life depends on it and with zero fear. Huge respect!

The “Hold My Beer” Overtake Trophy - Holly Evans, GOON Racing

Yup, you’ve guessed it. Thanks to that attempted overtake in Herstmonceaux in 2024, Holly finds herself as the firm winner of this award.
Holly had an amazing Dirt Nationals season, and really does show huge promise as the one to watch going into the 2025 racing!

Check the video out below - massive thanks to Simon Lawton for the footage!

The Full Send Award - Chicken Shit Racing

Um, I haven’t really got much to say about this, other than an old Subaru Forester and a load of hillbillies makes for an epic spectacle - the guys from CSR absolutely sent it at Mudbillies : End of Summer Sends, propelling themselves forward as the winners of this award!

The Mud Magnet - Terry Furlong, Kirkby Signs

Terry, is that you?! Managing to get mud absolutely everywhere at round 2 of Dirt Nationals in Frocester, I wonder if there’s still clumps of the Gloucestershire countryside living inside the Kirkby Signs truck!

The Concourse Award - Richard & Chelsea Hopkins, Escape Goat Racing

Fibreglass really is amazing, isn’t it?
The second trophy for the Goats, and well deserved. A testament to the full-send attitude of Richard Hopkins, this really does look worse than it actually is. The panels are designed to do this and be easily replaced, as well as being lighter than traditional materials.

Even so, it looks insane!

The “Airborne Ambitions” Flight School Ribbon - Team Field Fabrication

Is it a bird, is it a plane?

I’m n0t sure if this is an innovative technique to avoid punctures, but these guys always seemed to have four wheels in the air - not a small feat in a full-sized Land Rover Discovery!

The Balance Award - RNRMORT

This next award is for the Royal Navy guys from RNRMORT - look, I know you’re used to battleships rocking from side to side but this is unreal. How it didn’t fall over I’ll never know… can you get seasick on land?

The Greta Thunberg Trophy - Ghost Racing

It’s condensation, honestly. Greta would be proud.

Trophies and goodies will be making their way to the winners whenever we get five minutes to get them together, but hopefully it’ll be before the racing starts this year!
